Shellback Outdoors was founded by a veteran of the US Navy who became a shellback in October 1990. A sailor's seaworthiness is tested when crossing the equator on a ship of war and transforms the sailor from a Pollywog to a trusty Shellback. This is a time-honored tradition dating back at least 400 years.
